Independence Day will be celebrated in Greensboro on Saturday, July 6. The annual parade will start at 10:00 a.m. at the junction of Country Club Road and Breezy Avenue. Participants with vehicles are asked to enter Country Club Road from Hardwick Street to the south.
The parade will feature vehicles and floats from many local organizations, including the Greensboro Historical Society, Wonder & Wisdom, and the Greensboro Fire Department. Greensboro’s Lady Walkers will march. Bread and Puppet always provides a colorful show. Watchers can visit the Historical Society’s museum next to Willey’s Store.
Wonder and Wisdom will organize games for children on the green next to the Town Offices. Randy Bulpin and fellow musicians will perform on the green, which will also host several vendors and booths of local organizations.
The Greensboro United Church of Christ is offering a chicken barbecue from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Weather permitting, the annual fireworks display will begin at 9:00 p.m. on the Sowles’ property near the town’s southern border. It can be watched from the ballfield at the four corners.
